Hi Doug, Thought I'd throw a couple of images yer way, taken with the scopes at EMU Sherzer Observatory. Both are on Ektachrome 400 converted to pooter jpg's via a Polaroid QuickScan 35. Lunar
Eclipse ( 18k ) The lunar eclipse image was taken round mid-eclipse
March 23rd thru the 4-inch apo refractor guide scope and Comet
HB inner coma ( 35k ) the Hale-Bopp inner coma region snap was thru
the 10-inch apo refractor. Both were timed using the highly sophisticated "one-one thousand" method, especially in light of the 60 or so people standing in line or on the observing deck waiting for that "scope hog" (me) to clear the way for some lookin. I'll repeat the inner coma shots again tonight (Monday) with Tech Pan this time to increase the resolution. Though the original pics are a tad grainy, I see 5 rings in a couple of the 4-8 second exposures at f/14, 3150mm focal length offered by the 10-inch apo. Norbert Vance: |
